Legal IT Security – In The News

January 9, 2013

Even more convinced that security is going to be a real hot topic this year.

Just after drafting my first post I bumped into a pal who is IT Director for a leading Law firm in Scotland. After a bit of chit chat I asked him what the New Year held in store. His key challenge this year will be to drive forward on IT Security and to achieve ISO standard accreditation. The interesting thing about this is that the real driver for a law firm to spend time, resources and cash on something that doesn’t offer immediate or visible benefit is that increasingly accreditation is a minimum standard to bid for work and to join legal panels of corporate clients.

And then the next day I read of one of the ‘top four’ Scottish law firms  Maclay Murray & Spens LLP, has “chosen to deploy the LogRhythm log management and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) software to boost cyber security and compliance throughout the organisation”.

So there are two top commercial firms taking steps – absolutely certain that there will be more.
